Deer on Trail
These beautiful Roe Deer can often be seen in the woods and fairly close to the caravans in the park site.
Collared dove
This lovely looking Collared Dove is a regular visitor to the feeder. Very timid and doesn't quite get to grips with the feeders and finds it hard to perch.
Young Stag
This young stag with antlers still covered in fur has been a regular visitor over the winter.
Juvenile Chaffinches
The two smaller Chaffinches on the post are being fed by their mother. She brings seeds to them until they learn how to feed themselves.
Spooked Deer
This young Roe deer has been spooked and can be seen running up the hill. Another deer must have preceded this one and triggered the camera but wasn't captured.
Mixed Company
A whole mixed bag of birds all squabbling and trying to gain a perch to feed.
Three Deer Feeding
It looks like two adult females and a juvenile Stag Roe Deer. It has been a hard winter for them and they are appearing more often in the park site to find food.
Looping Deer
These deer appear to be looping up around the track. You can see where they are entering and leaving the track - then reappearing a few minutes later

All the images shown in this gallery have been taken within the caravan park with the exception of the Sika Deer image. We have yet to capture a quality image of these creatures as they tend to spook easily and have exceptionally good hearing and can smell our scent from a distance.

Unfortunately most of the images we have are taken from a distance or simply show the rear end of the deer as they run off.. The image shown has been borrowed from the British Deer Society website which we encourage you to visit for more information on these lovely creatures.

Busy Day at the bird feederAs you will see from the images of my bird feeder, there is an abundance of bird varieties that make their home in the park site although some of them are transient visitors and fly off in the Winter to return in the Spring.

For those who would like to see more 'exotic' varieties there are Osprey often seen fishing at Loch Thom which is just a few miles away. Also at Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae, there is a good chance to see Common Kestrels and the occasional Golden Eagle and Sea Eagle, as well as a large seabird population of Fulmars, Cormorants, Oyster Catchers and many more. Other marine life includes Seals, Basking Sharks, Porbeagle Sharks and Dolphins. Millport is a jewel in the River Clyde. Its only a 10 minute ferry journey from Largs and makes a great family day out.

Closer to hand is Lunderston Bay which is just a mile or so from here. There is a lovely stretch of sandy beach and every chance of seeing seals basking plus a great variety of bird life. The car park at Lunderston Bay faces the entrance to Cardwell Garden Centre which is always worth a visit and have a bite to eat in the cafe with seating amongst the garden displays.

Night time wildlife can be quite active around the park site with foxes and hedgehogs amongst others out to feed.
